"When Exactly Do You Mean" Original Collage on Canvas

Have you ever sat in winding traffic and wondered "When exactly am I gonna get there?" Your navigation app may say 20 minutes but we all know what that means. I think life is like this sometimes. Yearning to reach a destination "on time" when the only way out is to be patient in the steps required to get where you want to go. 

I made this 12 by 16 inch mixed media collage on canvas in August 2022 after a strange summer for a 21 year old, shaking hands with Toronto businessmen and faking it until I made it. This piece includes a parking ticket from my first business conference, London Free Press clippings, a grocery list, a guitar cutout, and more. Originally, I thought this collage was about how the Western dependence on cars is idiotic. I think it is preposterous that parking spaces make more money than a lot of humans. In hindsight, I can see that it's about the financial burden of existing in a capitalistic world, especially as an artist. In order to follow your dreams, you need to have a ton of faith in yourself, but sometimes the gas light indicator comes on and you have no idea how you're going to make it work.

Deep meanings aside, I think this piece looks super cool and whoever snatches it up is probably super cool and has marvellous taste.
